The Heater

As the heater controls appeared jammed and with the gearbox out, it would be easy to remove the heater, so it was removed! Refurbishment involved replacing the disintegrating foam with a modern substitute, cleaning out the fins of the heat exchanger, testing and cleaning the resistor which permits the two speeds (3 ohms), a coat of black paint and reassembly with stainless steel self tapping screws. On refitting new silicone hoses were used (with J.C.S. HI-GRIPĀ® STAINLESS worm drive hose clips) and all the control cables were replaced with new. The fixing bolts were also stainless!
